Ashok B Lall Architects is a design and architecture studio that was established in New Delhi in 1981 and ever since, has designed multiple projects across India, including the Indian Institute of Health Management Research in Jaipur, Sehgal Foundation in Gurgaon, and the Development Alternatives World Headquarters in New Delhi. The studio has also won several awards in architectural competitions.
Addressing cultural inequity, environmental impact, and cultural subversion through architecture is among the primary principles of Ashok B Lall Architects. It Prioritises design strategies and technologies that align with sustainability and energy conservation.
Affordable housing is one of the areas of expertise of the founder of Ashok B Lall Architects, i.e. Ashok Behari Lall. His firm has designed and constructed several affordable houses and conducted research projects on building typologies and economic and low carbon construction systems. Ashok B Lall Architects is now globally recognised for its innovative contributions to affordable housing.
Since 2022, Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) has partnered with Ashok B Lall Architects to undertake research, consultations and a pilot to identify new ways of building healthy affordable homes in India. The insights gained will be provided to the Indian Government to help inform positive changes to the National Buildings Code when it is next reviewed in 2025.
