GBPN has officially launched its support for the Indonesia Green Affordable Housing Program (IGAHP) in a recent Kick-Off Meeting in Jakarta. The program aims to deliver 1 million units of green and affordable housing by 2030, integrating energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building practices.

Fitri Ami Handayani, Head of Cooperation at the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, highlighted the program’s comprehensive approach, addressing the need for affordable housing that has a rising demand in Indonesia.

 “IGAHP recognizes the need for detailed action plans for affordable housing, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to ensure sustainability and inclusivity in housing projects across Indonesia.In which GBPN can support by providing critical evidence based data to identify potential emission savings, and assisting on roadmap development on green affordable housing.” Mrs. Fitri said

“The primary objective of IGAHP is to deliver 1 million units of green and affordable housing by 2030. This effort is not just about quantity but quality as well, ensuring that the homes are both sustainable and accessible.

“The program’s integration of energy-efficient designs aims to significantly reduce energy expenses for residents, resulting in substantial savings on utility bills, creating sustainable and accessible homes for all Indonesians, and allowing families to save expenses.”

GBPN Senior Manager Matthieu Caille highlighted that this collaboration for Green Affordable Housing Program ensures that the housing needs of Indonesia’s growing population are met in an environmentally responsible manner using empirical baseline data and proven methods.

“Indonesia is setting a nationwide benchmark to mainstream affordable green housing by utilizing evidence based data and robust methods. The collaborative effort between GBPN and IGAHP is a demonstration and actionable strategic partnership in achieving large-scale sustainable development goals.” Mr. Caille said.

“The integration of energy-efficient designs in affordable housing aims to significantly reduce energy expenses for residents, allowing families to save on utility bills and also reduce healthcare costs and improve overall well-being for residents.

“This program will be relevant to the developed green building roadmap, and helping Indonesia to meet rising housing demand that the country faces.”
