Achieving Scale in Energy-efficient Buildings in China: A View from the Construction and Real Estate Sectors
A report from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), commissioned by the GBPN, in collaboration with The China Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) finds that China is on the right track in embracing energy efficiency in buildings, but clearer rules and easier access to domestic financing are necessary to achieve scale and mitigate carbon emissions. Demand growth will also depend on greater awareness of potential cost savings and better air quality. Prospective green building users—from homebuyers to corporations—must see the value in energy-efficient buildings to motivate developers to build them.
