Laurent Deleersnyder is the Head of Unit at Direction Régionale de l’Environnement, de l’Aménagement et du Logement (DREAL), the new unified regional service of the French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning. Laurent builds on his expertise in energy efficiency and sustainable development policies to design and implement regional energy policies (renewable energy production and electricity networks).

Before joining DREAL, Laurent was leading the Energy Management and Aeraulic Transfers unit of Cerema (2016-2020), a French public agency for developing public expertise in the fields of urban planning, regional cohesion and ecological and energy transition. Technical management of the unit, production activities and strategic thinking, conducting research projects on “Building-Construction” for the Cerema’s Directorate for Research, and Thematic Programming Committee “Buildings” (CPT 2) of Cerema were among his areas of contribution at Cerema. Before that, from 2012 to 2016, Laurent was the policy officer of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy, where he contributed to implementing, monitoring and reviewing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2010/31/EU.

Laurent holds a bachelor of civil engineering, specialised in Buildings, from the The École nationale des travaux publics de l’État or ENTPE (1995) and a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Real Estate and Building – Energy and Digital Transitions from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (2018). He is based in Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France.
